If you are considering an educational consultant, we cannot recommend Heather enough. Knowing your son or daughter has a clear path of success is invaluable.

Let’s partner in your child’s success!

When you partner with me, I build a nurturing, high-touch relationship with your teenager and the entire family. This leads to an in-depth understanding of the student and real trust between me and your teen.

I use efficient, comprehensive evaluations of student aptitude, personality traits, preferences, strengths, and areas of growth to identify RIGHT FIT colleges. This process helps students develop their own voice and effectively communicate their unique story while also teaching students to identify schools that “fit”.

I also devote considerable time to researching and visiting colleges so that I can recommend the best fit for each teenager. In the end, each student will have a list of amazing, perfectly-suited colleges to choose from … the foundation for a lifetime of opportunity and promise.

Comprehensive Preparation Package Includes

Assessment / Student Profile
  • I utilize short simple surveys and assessments to get to know the student and develop their profile.
  • I review transcripts, class schedules, standardized testing, and make recommendations on course selection, testing schedule, tutoring, and enrichment.
  • All of my students are introduced to my online college planning platform Maia Learning.
  • Students are encouraged to take the YouScience Career and Aptitude assessment and complete a Corsava Card Sort. [During junior year, students do a deeper dive into aptitude and career testing by taking the YouScience assessment.]
  • Junior Fall I encourage the student to start identifying letters of recommendation from current teachers, coaches, and other outside influences.
  • During the profile-building stage, I guide students through the creation of a resume

  • Once I have a solid understanding of a student’s unique profile, I research and identify an initial list of 20 colleges that are a RIGHT FIT.
  • At this stage, I do an important financial fit evaluation by asking parents to use the FAFSA SAI Calculator and individual college NetPrice calculators. The financial piece is critical to building a RIGHT FIT list.
  • I take the time to talk to parents about financial aid and I provide the, with the necessary information on how to proceed with completing the FAFSA and CSS Profile.
  • Once the list is ready, I provide the student/parents/guardian with the “College List” document and I task the student with narrowing down the list to 10-15 schools by July 1st of rising senior summer.
  • During this time I provide families with resources and information on planning college visits.

  • I develop work timeline for all components of the application.
  • Students start their essay work in June of rising senior summer. I provide essay development and editing for all college application essays. I utilize one outside editor to assist in this work.
  • On August 1st the student begins the actual college application process on the following applications: Common App, Institutional App, and Coalition App.
  • At this stage I advise students on the different application options: Early Action, Restrictive Choice Early Action, Early Decision, and Regular Decision.
  • I continue to support and give guidance on all components of the college application: Strategic college major selection, Resume completion and upload, Art Portfolio (Music, Theater, Dance, Studio Art, Animation, Film), and Athletic Recruitment Guidance.
  • I help students strategize, identify, and secure timely personalized letters of recommendation. (Students complete a Letter of Recommendation Biography document that is shared with each recommender).
  • In the end, I provide final application reviews and proper submission assuring a polished final application. Students working with me will submit ALL applications by Nov.1st of senior year.
  • After college application submissions, I guide students to scholarships and provide support throughout the scholarship application process.
  • Once admission offers start rolling in, I serve as a great resource to students and families by offering data and insight into the particulars of a college offer.
  • At this stage, I can counsel students on waitlist and appeals, address concerns around securing housing, and provide in-depth review of financial offers
